Facial Micro-Current Rejuvenation

Micro-current Facial is one of the latest procedures in anti-aging protocols and is a non-invasive and comfortable alternative to facial surgery, botox, thermage, dermabrasion, chemical peels and other anti-aging approaches that either treat only the local area or are damaging to the skin. The micro-current facial can take 15-20 years off your face, with absolutely no risk or side effects and with rapid and lasting results.

What is micro-current therapy?
Micro-current therapy has been used as a healing modality to reduce pain and enhance wound healing and is practiced extensively in Europe and North America. Research has shown that micro-current enhances tissue healing by 150-300%. In its application in facial rejuvenation protocols, micro-current works on the muscles underlying the skin. It is like a “mini workout” for your face. In fact, it is considered a form of muscular re-education of the face (MRF). MRF was originally developed to treat conditions such as Bell’s Palsy, where the muscles of one side of the face become paralyzed. Another application is for TMJ dysfunction.
The non-medical application of MRF is Micro-current Facial Rejuvenation. Micro-current facial rejuvenation has made a name for itself in a relatively short time. It has gained its rapid popularity due to its hassle-free, comfortable and non-invasive nature as well as excellent positive results and affordability.

How does it work?
A tiny electrical current is administered through two Q-tipped probes and applied to the facial muscles. The client may be aware of a gentle tingle. As the muscles weaken and sag with age and gravity, the skin overlying them also droops. Micro-current stimulation work on reflexes (golgi tendon organ and muscle spindle) found within each muscle which control length and tone. As the muscles worked on regain tone, so does the skin. This is achieved without any harm to the dermis.

What results can you expect?
The high frequency electrical signals that reach deep to the facial muscles and surrounding tissues promote circulation, collagen production, cellular repair and regeneration. Visible results are improved skin quality (greater tone, smoother texture, healthy glow), greater elasticity and improved facial contours. The micro-current facial erases fine lines, reduces deeper lines and crow’s feet, reduces dark circles and eye bags, lifts droopy lids, and clears or reduces age spots. Micro-current also decreases low-grade inflammation and is beneficial to treat acne and rosacea.

Significant changes can be seen within the first few treatments. A course of twelve treatments is recommended for best results, with periodic maintenance treatments thereafter. If you are generally healthy, a non-smoker, without excessive exposure to the sun, a maintenance schedule of every two- three months is sufficient.

How is the skin damaged and how do you prevent it?

Your skin is the body’s largest organ and is your protection from external influences. It is vulnerable to external damage from sunlight, pollution, and chemicals, and to internal causes such as poor nutrition, stress, smoking and a lack of anti-oxidants to combat free-radical damage. Free radicals are molecules in the body that steal electrons from healthy molecules thus causing cellular damage. Collagen fibers are particularly susceptible to free-radical damage. Scientists are finding that free-radical damage is one of the primary causes of age related diseases such as cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer’s and arthritis.

Recommendations for keeping your skin vital are limiting your exposure to the sun, improving your diet by eating whole foods, including powerful anti-oxidants and essential fatty acids that combat inflammation, getting regular exercise and applying organic quality products to your skin.
